Portland’s Inaugural
Battle of the Bands
 
 

Are you ready to rock the stage at Windfest? Do you think your band is the best band in the Coastal Bend? Would you like to win $500? If so, submit your application to the Portland Chamber of Commerce to compete in the first ever Battle of the Bands. Bands will be judged by our esteemed panel of judges. The crowd will also make up a large component of judging for this event so bring your friends, and entertain the crowd! This event is sponsored by the Young Business Professionals of the Portland Chamber of Commerce and is open to any area unsigned band playing any genre of music. Bands are asked to submit 1 original song and/or 1 cover song but not more than two (2) songs. They will be asked to provide a stage plot in advance and use the professional gear (backline) provided, e.g. mics, drum kit, amplifiers, & monitors. Musicians will be expected to use their own guitars. All music should be family-friendly. Performances on April 8 will be limited to 15 minutes. Winner will kick-off Windfest on Friday April 9, 2021. Bands will be judged based on the criteria listed below.
CONTEST ENTRY: Completed forms and a $50 entry must be returned to chamber@portlandtx.org along with a link to audio or video of your band.

PERFORMANCE JUDGING CRITERIA
Basics: 25 Points – the overall band sound and cohesiveness as a unit
 
Stage Presence: 25 Points – Moving around & using the full stage, interacting with other band
members and acknowledging the crowd.
 
Material: 25 Points – Songs highlight the band’s strengths. Song choices work well together;
cohesiveness of set list.
 
Crowd Reaction: 25 Points – Does the band create positive reactions/applause from the
audience.
