2014 Windfest
Event Description:
EXPERIENCE the NEW WINDFEST, join us in Portland, Texas April 11-13, 2014 and see what it’s all about. A Family Festival with endless FUN! We have activities for guest of all ages, so bring the entire family! Join us for new events such as the Lego Contest, Hot Dog Eating Contest, Kid’s Pirate Cove, Kiwanis Windfest 10K/5K/2 Mile Run, Paint Portland Art Contest, arts/crafts & Market Days, kite decorating, also enjoy the King Falconry Show and the petting zoo. And of course back by popular demand; horseshoe/washer tournaments, Chili, Rib & Bean Cook-off, The famous Dachshund Dash, Classic Car Show, food & coke booth and of course THE Carnival. The City of Portland Fire Department will be on site providing FREE Family and Friends CPR training. This is truly a community event for all! Bring a chair, bring your family and bring your friends. Find a seat under the Joe Burke Pavilion have some food, drink and listen to some great music by local bands and enjoy headliners such as JR Castillo, Rex Robards and Jon Wolfe. The beer garden will be serving Andrews Distributing products, no need to drag a cooler with you, leave that at home, we will have all the refreshments you need. We will see you at the New Windfest, held at the Daniel P. Moore Community Complex, 2000 Billy G. Webb. Enjoy Windfest and Experience Portland! Saturday, April 12th - age 6 and under Free, 11:00am - 5:00pm $2.00 gate entry, after 5pm is a $5.00 gate entry fee
Sunday, April 13th - age 6 and under Free, $2.00 Gate entry, All Active & Retired Military Free gate entry
Parking Fee - $3.00 per vehicle, all parking fee proceeds go to the Lion's Club and Operation Graduation to support children's activities, scholarships and a safe Graduation Party for GPISD Seniors.
